How to make tasty texas brisket

Gather all of your supplies (butter is missing from this photo, but you need it way later.)

Gather all of your supplies for the dry rub.

Measure out 5 ounces of chili powder.

Add 1 1/2 Tbsp of cayenne powder or 3 if you like it spicy.

Add 1 1/2 Tbsp of black pepper.

Add 1 Tbsp of garlic salt or powder.

Mix all of the dry rub ingredients together.

Preheat the oven to 210 degrees Fahrenheit.

Put the brisket in a large pan and pour 1 tsp of lemon juice on top of the brisket. You want the fat side down at this point because you will coat the other side.

Rub the lemon juice over the top of the brisket and add the dry rub to the top.

Evenly coat the top of the brisket.

Top layer of the brisket covered in dry rub.

Flip the brisket over. You want the fat side up so the brisket stays nice and juicy.

Cover this side of the brisket with lemon juice and add the dry rub.

Now the brisket is evenly coated. Don't forget to coat the sides as well.

Foil the brisket and put in the oven for 12 hrs. Sometimes certain ovens shut off, so make sure to check the oven every few hours.

Slice the onions. You can use 1 or two f you prefer.

Measure out 2 Tbsp of butter in a bowl.

Melt the butter for 20 seconds in the microwave.

Add the onions to the bowl.

Add 1 tsp of minced garlic.

Add 12 oz of any type of beer to the mix.

Add 1 Tbsp of lemon juice to the mix.

Add 1 Tbsp of worcestershire sauce to the bowl.

Add 1 Tbsp of chili powder and you can optionally add 1 Tbsp of cayenne pepper if you like spicy.

Add 1 Tbsp of liquid smoke.

Mix all of the soak ingredients together.

Put the soak in the microwave for 2 minutes.

Take the brisket out of the oven. Yum! It looks pretty tasty.

Add the soak ingredients to the brisket pan.

Brisket with the soak added.

Cover the brisket back up and put it in the oven for 6 hrs.

After 6 hours, the brisket is ready to eat! Slice the brisket or shred the brisket and make a BBQ sandwich. Brisket also stays good for a while, so you can use it in all kinds of different recipes.

Serve with your favorite sides. Traditional Texas sides are potatoes, corn, or rolls. Usually the brisket doesn't need BBQ sauce, but you can add some to spicy it up.
